The Battle of New OrleansAmerican troops won the decisive victory over British forces at Chalmette Battlefield, site of the 1815 Battle of New Orleans.  Battered by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Chalmette Battlefield recently reopened with a new temporary visitor center.

Friday Night battle at Pakenham Oaks Hosted by the community of St. Bernard Parish All programs free except Friday night Lantern Tour Return to 1815 with troops and civilians in period dress, cannon and musket firings, military drills, American and British camps, a "night before the battle" tour by lantern light, and a reenactment of the night battle of December 23, 1814.
